Volvo V70 2.5t Automatic Transmission Shifter Cable Replaced
Posted on September 09, 2020 / by Bellissimo / 0 comment
Unfortunately for this owner, the white plastic sheath failed and the entire cable was in need of replacement. Please be aware this particular part had to be special ordered from the dealer so please allow ample time to complete the repair.

The majority of these cables will last an average of least 125,000 to 175,000 but are actually known for failure on some models.
Vehicles with known issues are generally due to extreme bends in the shift cable, poor sealing of the shift cables causing water intrusion, or issues with binding at the shift shaft or gear selector assembly.
Generally these symptoms are seen in advance and failures have been logged before 75,000 miles.
